Scaffold Carpenter Staffing

Trained Scaffold Crews, Typically in 48 to 72 Hours

Cruitfly is a nationwide staffing agency that supplies scaffold carpenters, scaffold helpers and ground crews to general contractors, subcontractors and specialty trade companies for commercial construction, shutdowns and turnarounds. Every worker is a W2 Cruitfly employee trained through Cruitfly's in-house safety program. Typical fill time is 48 to 72 hours.

Who does Cruitfly send to a scaffold project?

Proud Member of SAIACruitfly Staffing delivers highly trained, safety-certified scaffold carpenters and ground crews nationwide, and Cruitfly is a member of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA), which keeps us current on industry standards and compliance practice.

  • Scaffold carpenters (scaffold builders) who erect, alter and dismantle scaffold, including builds inside enclosures with tight spaces and awkward angles at power plants.
  • Scaffold helpers who work alongside the carpenters on the build.
  • Ground crews placed with the carpenters as the job requires.

Every worker also carries:

  • Training through Cruitfly's in-house safety and certification program, plus OSHA 10 as a minimum.
  • Background checks and drug screening through DISA and CCS programs.
  • Records you can check, shared through software before the crew mobilizes.

What training does OSHA require for scaffold work?

OSHA's scaffold standards sit in 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L. Three rules decide who can do what.

  • Training for builders. Under 29 CFR 1926.454(b), anyone who erects, disassembles, moves, operates, repairs, maintains or inspects a scaffold must be trained by a competent person to recognize the hazards of that work.
  • Training for users. Under 1926.454(a), anyone who works from a scaffold must be trained by a person qualified in the subject, covering electrical, fall and falling object hazards.
  • Supervision, inspection and fall protection. Under 29 CFR 1926.451, scaffolds are erected, moved, dismantled or altered only under the supervision of a competent person, inspected by a competent person before each shift, and anyone more than 10 feet above a lower level must be protected from falling.

The competent person on your site directs the build. Cruitfly's job is to send carpenters who arrive trained to work under that direction.

How does a scaffold crew get from request to job site?

  1. Send the request. Use Request an Employee or call 317-426-7703 with the location, start date, crew size, scaffold type and any site access requirements.
  2. Get a straight answer on timing. Typical fill time is 48 to 72 hours. If we cannot hit your window, we say so up front.
  3. Screening and verification. Our recruiting team interviews every candidate and confirms training and experience are real.
  4. Paperwork before mobilization. Records are shared through software, with a certificate of insurance naming you as additional insured where required.
  5. Crew on site. You direct the work. Cruitfly carries payroll, workers' compensation and weekly certified payroll on prevailing wage jobs.
  6. Replace or keep. A replacement is typically on site within 12 to 24 hours. Workers can convert at around 480 regular hours, and direct hire carries a 90-day guarantee.

What does scaffold staffing cost, and what drives the price?

Scaffold staffing is priced as an hourly bill rate per worker, quoted per project. The biggest drivers:

  • Workers' compensation classification. Scaffolding carries substantially higher comp rates than general construction.
  • Duration and headcount. A two-week shutdown prices differently from a long commercial build.
  • Overtime and shift work. Shutdowns often run extended shifts, and those premiums flow through the rate.
  • Travel, per diem, lodging and speed. A crew in 48 hours costs more than the same crew in three weeks.

What scaffold projects has Cruitfly staffed?

  • 30 scaffold carpenters for a power plant shutdown in Wyoming. Carpenters and helpers built scaffold inside enclosures with challenging angles and tight spaces so maintenance and repair crews could work safely. Read the project summary.
  • Commercial and industrial work across the country, from small-scale construction in the Midwest to industrial turnarounds at power plants, large commercial jobs in Washington State and delicate scaffold work around historic landmarks in New England.

Where does Cruitfly staff scaffold crews?

Cruitfly places scaffold carpenters on its own payroll in nearly all of the lower 48 states, from offices in Indianapolis, IN and Charlotte, NC. See where we work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Decide how many carpenters and helpers you need, the scaffold type and the start date, then use an agency that places trained scaffold carpenters on its own payroll. Cruitfly supplies scaffold carpenters, helpers and ground crews nationwide, trained through its in-house safety program, with a typical fill time of 48 to 72 hours.

Yes. About 90% of Cruitfly's contracts are temporary: the carpenter stays on Cruitfly's payroll for the length of your project and you direct the work on site. If you want to keep someone, conversion typically happens at around 480 regular hours worked, and direct hire placements carry a 90-day guarantee.

Yes. Cruitfly placed 30 scaffold carpenters, with scaffold helpers, on a partial power plant shutdown in Wyoming, building scaffold in tight enclosures so maintenance crews could work. Shutdowns compress a lot of labor into a short window with a hard end date, so send us the dates and headcount as early as you can.

Under 29 CFR 1926.454(b), anyone who erects, disassembles, moves, operates, repairs, maintains or inspects a scaffold must be trained by a competent person to recognize the hazards involved. Under 1926.451, scaffolds are erected and dismantled only under a competent person's supervision. Cruitfly trains its carpenters through an in-house safety and certification program.

Typical fill time is 48 to 72 hours, depending on the job site requirements and when the order reaches us. A replacement is typically on site within 12 to 24 hours. A large shutdown crew or a hard-to-source location can take longer, and we give you the real timeline rather than a number we cannot hit.

Cruitfly does. Every worker Cruitfly places is a W2 Cruitfly employee, covered by Cruitfly's workers' compensation in every state it operates in. Scaffolding classifications carry higher comp rates than general construction, which is one reason the bill rate is higher. Cruitfly's current EMR is .75, and we issue a certificate of insurance on request.
