The client needed six licensed, qualified asbestos abatement workers, and needed them quickly. The complication was not the labour, it was where to put them. A large unrelated construction project nearby had absorbed regional hotel capacity and pushed lodging rates up sharply, which squeezed both our incoming crew and the client's own direct crew.
We delivered all six licensed abatement workers on a five business day turnaround.
We also negotiated better lodging rates at hotels in neighbouring cities, and we did it for everybody on the project, not only our own people. The client's direct crew benefited from the same rates. That was not in scope and nobody asked us to do it, but a crew that cannot afford to be there is a staffing problem regardless of whose payroll they are on.
Two additional projects came up for the client, worth more than $300,000 in combined revenue. Because the crew was already staffed and on site, they were able to take both on rather than turn them down.
